And so it begins...
Welcome to A Knitter's Tale! š§¶
Hello and welcome! Iām so thrilled to be sharing this journey with you!
So from where shall I begin? To be honest, Iāve sat down to write this first post several times now, but every time I end up putting it off because quite frankly I donāt know where to begin.
But this time, I said to myself: āOkay⦠I shall simply start here.ā And so here I am, snuggled up on the couch typing my thoughts away. And on the side table, a cup of tea mocking me knowing full well that by the time I finish this train of thought (which letās face it, it tends to be one heck of a long train š) my once-warm cup of tea will be well over the ātoo cold to drinkā threshold.
*Giving the floor to my thoughtsšļø*
Every time I look back on how I first fell in love with knitting, one thing always strikes a chord with me. Itās fascinating how a simple hobby has the potential to carve out a special place in oneās heart in such little time.

Pre-2024
If you had to ask me what I thought of āknittingā prior to November 2024, I would have undoubtedly cringed š¬ I imagined an old lady, tirelessly knitting her time away through a garment that, before itās even remotely close to being finished, youād sort of assume itās not going to look good. And in any case, whatever sheās conjuring up would certainly look dated and out of fashion. For me, hand-knits reminded me of what your loving grandma would give you on a special occasion, and having to force out a smile to show your appreciation for the many hours sheād have put into making it. All whilst knowing well enough youād probably never wear it š«£
Summer 2024
With my sister expecting her first child and my pinterest feed inundated with amigorumi-related content, my auntie instincts kicked in. And in true lightbulb momentš” fashion, I knew I wanted to learn how to crochet a stuffed toy for my soon-to-be-nephew. But by late August, as I was packing to go study abroad for a couple of months, my amigorumi-making plans had to take a backseat due to luggage weight issues š - which naturally shifted my crafting mojo onto garment-making.
The Rocky Start
And in a month or so of living abroad, I learnt how to crochet a garment and finished off my first ever sweater (which I have since frogged š). But alas, something still lingered on at the back of my mind⦠the truth is that I was still gravitating more towards knitting patterns rather than crochet ones. So, I decided it was time⦠finally! And oh my⦠what a journey it has been!
In My Knitting Era š§¶
With a pair of knitting needles and some yarn, Iāve been stitching my way through life ever since. My first finished knitted garment was the ā'Everytime Tankā by Wool and the Gang using Reborn Wool Recycled from Kremke Soul Wool. Itās a v-neck vest worked flat and picked up stitches for a ribbed edge.
